Dark Light

The following drills are the traditional training methods used in this style of tai chi to program an instinctive and intelligent response to combat questions.

The techniques emphasise evasion, subtle slips and neutralisations and footwork for defence, whilst teaching you how to counter with a wide variety of striking, throwing, grappling, joint locking and restraining methods. In essence you learn to embody the tai chi ideal of softness defeating hardness and stillness defeating motion.

They are practiced slowly at first and then when the essential details are learned speeded up until you can defend yourself in a calm manner against full speed attacks.

Ideally within a months practice you will have spent time practicing all the different exercises, which all build and internalise the tai chi principles and use of the foundation 13 dynamics (basic methods) of the art.
