Chinese martial arts have usually included secret training taught only to trusted students. Internal strength is such a practice.

It’s traditionally taught to advanced students who have achieved competence in other areas of the art and shown they are of sound character. They are now ready to learn the Internal Power training.

Usually this aspect is referred to as ‘Neigong’ which means inner work.

The training can be very transformative and combines a meditative mindset with various body conditioning, movement practices and breathwork.

With regular practice students become, stronger, faster and more powerful. The exercises can be physically and mentally therapeutic too.

After 100 days of training students can test themselves by having someone jump on their abdomen from head height. This shows the strengthening effective of the internal organs and the fascia that surrounds them. This is just one benefit of this remarkable training method and has led some people to refer to the training as Iron Shirt training. Your body can become as hard as iron.
