True martial artists know that the foundation of any martial art is the physical conditioning and health base of the practitioner. For ring fighting or professional bodyguards and so on this becomes even more important.
Our system of Wutan Tai Chi comes from people who trained elite soldiers in ancient China and then some teachers who trained people to fight in full contact lei tai bloodbaths (where headbutts and groin shots were allowed) and street duels in Hong Kong.
These types of practitioners require every advantage to stay on top. For this reason the style of t’ai chi we practice has maintained the use of a conditioning system used to achieve very high levels of high intensity combat ready fitness. The system isn’t for everyone, but for those who want to learn and practice it, the rewards are considerable.
High intensity cardiovascular fitness, anaerobic power, power endurance, speed endurance and so on result from a modest investment of around 20-30 minutes per day.
